VYPE Coaches Corner: Heights Softball Coach Lamont Robins; Playoff Preview
This postseason has seen some extraordinary talent burst onto the scene. But, none have experienced a more meteoric rise than the Heights softball program.
After claiming back-to-back district titles, the Bulldogs (27-9) proceeded to make history, by reaching the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time ever.
The HISD team features the exceptional talents of Haylie Jaime (Trinity Valley), Kennedy Hill (Incarnate Word-signee), Laila Robins (Dallas Christian), Helen Maddux, Sara Paniagua, and Flora Moreno, just to name a few.
VYPE's Matt Malatesta caught up with head coach Lamont Robins, ahead of their matchup against Kingwood, as Heights looks to extend their historic season.

BASES LOADED: No. 9 Heights aiming for another district title and more
No. 9 -- Heights Bulldogs
Heights is coming off a 29-win season, which included going undefeated in District 18-6A play, and a Regional Quarterfinals appearance.
Trinity Valley Community College-commit Haylie Jaime will lead the squad in the circle after being the District 18-6A MVP in 2023 after going 21-1 with 191 strikeouts and hit .416 at the dish.
Laila Robins (Dallas Christian College) is back after batting .447 with four triples, five homers and drove in 33 in a first-team, all-district-type season. Incarnate Word-commit Kennedy Hill is also back for the Bulldogs, after hitting .473 at the plate with 11 doubles, six long balls and 35 RBIs.
Another name to remember is Helen Maddux, who smashed the ball for a .441 average, seven doubles, five home runs and 36 RBIs for Heights. Other players to watch include Sara Paniagua, Flora Moreno, Aaliyah Arredondo, Kendall David and Leila Ramirez.
