STATE SEMIFINALS: Oak Cliff Faith Family hunts for a 3-Peat
In their program's sixth-consecutive UIL State Basketball Tournament appearance, the Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy Eagles are looking to clinch their third state title in three years. With a 23-11 overall record, the Eagles are prepared to take on a tough Stafford (35-6) team. VYPE DFW takes a look at the team and how they made it this far for the sixth time:
Despite beginning their season with a hard-fought loss, the Eagles utilized their non-district schedule to strategically leverage, refine, and sharpen their talents as they prepared for the upcoming challenges of a competitive district schedule. With victories over the likes of Lancaster (who is also in their own respective state semifinal), Nixon, Steele, Combine Academy National, and more, the team was able to continue striving toward always being better.
In district play, the team posted an undefeated 8-0 schedule with dominant victories over North Hills Prep (104-51), Wiliams Prep (48-12), Summit International Prep (79-15), and more. Led by talented athletes like Lamont Hartfield, Doryan Onwuchekwa, Jaxx Henderson, Isaac Williams, D'Mari Devers, and others, the team waltzed their way into the playoffs-- ready to take down any opponent that stood in their way of making it to the state tournament.
Through the playoffs, the team took down Aubrey (107-53), Dunbar (105-64), Panther Creek (88-46), Pinkston (84-61), and most recently Carter (76-48) to make their entry into the state tournament. As they prepare to face off against Stafford, they will see what might be one of their toughest opponents in a handful of games. Ready to set the tone and pull away with the score on the hardwoods, the Eagles are prepared to utilize their fire and secure another entry into the state title game.
Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

After securing the program's first state title last season, the Oak Cliff Faith Family Eagles are headed down the path to greatness again this season. VYPE DFW takes a look at the team so far as they continue down the path of greatness.
Last Season
Appearing in their third consecutive state tournament last season, the Faith Family Eagles sealed the year with a crown. Dropping only three games all season, the Eagles posted a 91% winning percentage and a 32-3 overall record (8-0 in district play). Outscoring their opponents by over a combined 1,000 points, Through the regular season, the team defeated plenty of tough opponents including Lancaster (49-46), Dallas Wyatt (53-51), Lehi (54-49), Summit International Prep (106-48), North Hills Prep (98-30), iSchool of Lewisville (53-52), and more en route to the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, the team took every challenge ahead with dignity as they sent home Celina, Dunbar, Anna, Sulphur Springs, Dallas Carter, Randall, and eventually Washington to secure the state title.
This Season So Far
So far this season, the Faith Family Eagles are putting forth a strong effort having already defeated the likes of Lancaster (62-61), Steele (58-47), Combine Academy National (46-40), North Hills Prep (114-35), and more. Returning talented athletes like Lamont Hartfield, Doryan Onquchekwa, Tony Dixon, Isaac Williams, Jazz Henerseon, D'Mari Devers, and more, this team can be expected to be as strong as they were last season. With excellent leadership and a determination to continue their legacy, the team is on a mission to return to the state tournament for the fourth time in four seasons.
The team will return to district play following the new year with a matchup against Summit International Prep on January 9th. Be sure you catch them in action!
