Ready to Roll: Northwest Texans Baseball
The Northwest Texans are looking towards another great season on the diamond this year. With success following them around every corner, Northwest baseball is ready for anything that's headed their way. VYPE DFW takes a look at last season and dives into what fans can expect from Texans baseball this spring!
Rewind
Last season, the Texans played incredibly. With a 16-13-1 overall record (9-5 in district play) the Texans made a strong playoffs push before eventually falling to Mansfield Legacy in the third round of the UIL playoffs. Through preseason play the team sharpened their skills and remained focused; learning from every moment to ensure success in district play. Once the team opened up their district schedule, there was no looking back. Posting convincing victories over Grapevine, Lake Dallas, Richland, Denton, Colleyville Heritage, and more, the team waltzed into playoffs ready to give it everything they had. With a deep playoff run, the Texans had everything to be proud of last season.
The Season Ahead
With the offseason quickly coming to an end, the Texans are geared up and ready to take on their opponents this spring. As sharp as ever, Northwest will look to have one of their strongest preseason starts as they open their season at home against Keller Central in a tournament on Thursday, February 23rd. The team will continue through preseason play until district begins in mid March. Facing off against tough area opponents shouldn't be an issue for the Texans as they typically play like seasoned veterans.
With great leadership and minds for the game, the Texans can be expected to make another campaign towards playoffs. Be sure you make it out to Justin to watch the Texans give it their all this season!
Strength on the Pitch: Northwest Lady Texans
After posting a less-than-ideal season last year, the Justin Northwest Lady Texans are on the move this season; working their way through district play. VYPE DFW takes a deeper dive into the program and what fans can expect as the team continues to put forth the energy that it takes to power themselves into post season play.
So Far
With a strong preseason schedule, the Lady Texans prepared for district by taking on some of the best programs in their area. Posting victories over the likes of Denton Braswell (2-0), South Garland (3-0), Irving Nimitz (2-1), and more, the Lady Texans were able to focus on building stamina and game day focus before heading into their district schedule. Once they opened district with a 4-1 victory over Saginaw, Northwest was ready to continue playing with everything they had. Despite a 6-1 loss against Aledo, the Lady Texans were quick to bounce back posting a 5-0 win over Fort Worth Brewer and a 2-0 win over Azle.
What's Ahead
As the team prepares to close out district play, they are looking to remain sharp on the pitch. Already having faced both Aledo and Azle, the Lady Texans will be able to better read their opponents not only as they warm up , but while studying film and playing the match as well. The team is set to host Aledo on Tuesday, February 21 at 7:15 p.m. in a rematch that is sure to be physical.
Fans can expect the Lady Texans to play with their entire heart over the rest of district play. Looking to make a playoff appearance and continue strengthening their record, Northwest is going to work hard to get to where they want to be- without ever backing down.
