PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Flower Mound takes on Keller volleyball
It's time for the regional semifinals in the Texas high school volleyball playoffs. As area teams gear up to face each other, VYPE DFW is taking a look at some squads fans should keep their eyes peeled on. Flower Mound and Keller are two teams set to face off on Friday for an intense battle. We dive into what fans can expect below:
Flower Mound Jaguars (33-7, 12-2)
Opening their season with a statement sweep over Allen, the Lady Jaguars knew they had what it takes to be great from an early start this season. Through non-district play, the team battled against tough opponents like Denton Guyer, McKinney North, Denton Braswell, V.R. Eaton, Argyle, and more for several huge victories-- dropping only 5 non-district matches against opponents.
Led by Catherine Young, Caroline Tredwell, Liz Goodspeed, Brianna Watson, Emerson Dement, and other incredible athletes, this team showed up and showed out through district play as they recorded several strong victories including those over Lewisville, Hebron, Plano, and Coppell to finish at the first-place spot in their district. Heading into the playoffs has proven to be no trouble for Flower Mound as they have shut out all three of their opponents in the playoffs (McKinney, J.J. Pearce, and Lake Highlands). The team looks to continue their hot streak on Friday night.
Keller Indians (26-13, 8-4)
With strong outings and battles through non-district play, the Keller Indians posted several strong wins against tough opponents like Aledo, Grapevine, Wylie, Justin Northwest, Colleyville Heritage, Cinco Ranch, and more in preparation for their district schedule. As the team pushed through, the recorded an 18-9 record before entering district play. Knowing they had to work hard to continue their excellence, the Lady Indians embraced every challenge that came their way.
Facing a tough district schedule, Keller defeated Timber Creek, Keller Central, Fossil Ridge, and more while athletes like Reagan Sharp, Carley Wright, Anna Boatner, Anna Flores, Sydney Clark, Carrie Prewitt, and others showcased tremendous talent and resilience on the court. The team finished third in their district standings before entering the playoffs with a drive to succeed. So far through playoffs, the team has defeated Chisholm Trail, Eastwood, and Byron Nelson. They look to continue setting the tone on Friday night.

Both teams are incredible with on-court presence. Trained to be focused and tough by their coaches, these teams aren't going to give up without a fight. Fans can expect both teams to come out ready to give it their all as they face each other on the court. Expect this match-up to be high-energy!
The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at W.G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City.
District Preview: Keller is ready for anything
Keller finished first in their district standings last season with a 12-2 district record (33-12 overall). Having dropped only 46 sets all season, the Lady Indians have been focused on having a strong start to their 2023-24 campaign. As they inch closer to district play, what can fans expect out of this Keller squad?
Non-District So Far
Opening their season strong with a statement 3-0 shut-out victory over Aledo followed by another shut-out victory over Grapevine, the Lady Indians have shown that they have what it takes from the moment they stepped onto the court this year. With an 11-5 overall record so far, Keller is booming and ready to take down their opponents in a fast-played fashion. Poised for success, the Lady Indians have posted big defeats over Justin Northwest (3-2), reigning state champs Colleyville Heritage (3-2), Alamo Heights (2-0), Highland Park (2-1), North Richland Hills (3-0), and more en route to district play. The team has only two more non-district opponents to face before entering district. They will play against New Smyrna Beach at a neutral site on Friday, September 1st before hosting a strong Lucas Lovejoy squad on September 5th to close out their non-district schedule.

As the team opens district play on Friday, September 8th on the road against Fort Worth Timber Creek, fans can watch for strong moments on the court from the likes of Sydney Clark, Abby Bunch, Brooklyn Harter, Carley Wright, Carrie Prewitt, Anna Boatner, Sin Jochim, Reagan Sharp, and more. This team is fired up and ready to show that they have what it takes to push it to the next level this season. On the hunt for another state tournament appearance, fans can expect big things out of Keller.
