The depth of the Greater Houston basketball landscape was vast in 2025.
While it was thought to be a bit of a down year coming into the season, it saw five H-Town programs advance to the State Finals.
Duke signee Shelton Henderson of Bellaire was special. He led the HISD school to the brink of a State Title. The Cards had a shot at the buzzer to beat mighty Duncanville, which fell short.
Henderson was an easy choice at the top... the rest of the All-VYPE teams took hours of discussion and disagreements. It was that competitive.
Here are the All-VYPE Pubic School Teams of 2025.

2024-25 Fort Bend Marshall Basketball
STATE OR BUST: No. 1 Fort Bend Marshall brings back their entire championship-caliber roster
1 -- FORT BEND MARSHALL BUFFALOES
They are back!
After back-to-back Regional Final appearances, the Fort Bend Marshall Buffs (35-3; 14-0 in district) have that look again under the direction of legendary coach Ronnie Courtney.
“The strength of our team is experience,” coach Ronnie Courtney said. “We have nine returners and four starters who have been to two Regional Finals. That gives us a chance to be really good. I don’t have to teach as much because everyone has been around the program. We have some tremendous leadership who know what I’m looking for.”
Back in the huddle are Kevin Sargeant, Eian Lowe, Armani Theus and Johnathan Walker, who all started last year.
Sargeant was all-state and the District Defensive MVP in 2024.
“When he talks, everyone listens,” Courtney said.
Other Buffs to look out for include Ryan Johnson, Harvey Baker, Braydan Cooper and Chase Crawford, who will all play expanded roles this season.
The kings of Class 5A Region III look to defend their crown and take it two steps further.
