Nearly Unblemished McKinney Boyd Ready to Strike
Putting the Lady Broncos program on the map this season, McKinney Boyd volleyball has made sure to make every single appearance on the court one that contributes to the growth and success of the team. With a 22-1 overall record (6-0 in district play), McKinney Boyd hopes to continue showcasing its dominance. VYPE DFW takes a look at their season so far:
So Far
Last season, McKinney Boyd had a quick playoff appearance with an 18-16 overall record (8-7 in district play). This season, the team has stepped up and stepped into a role of power. Having dropped only 19 sets so far this season, the Lady Broncos have a 96% winning percentage against their opponents. Through non-district play, McKinney Boyd secured several victories against competitive opponents including Hebron (3-1), Rockwall (3-0), Highland Park (3-1), Bishop Lynch (2-1), Plano East (2-1), and more. In fact, their only loss this season came in a battle against Plano West.
Through district play so far, the team has only allowed their opponents to win two sets (against Allen [3-1] and Prosper [3-1]). Taking down McKinney, Denton Guyer, Little Elm, and Prosper Rock Hill in sweeps, McKinney Boyd has remained at the top of their district standings-- ahead of Prosper (25-7, 5-1) and Allen (22-11, 4-2).
What's Ahead
Led by Ale Romo, Sasha Purdin, Keira Bose, Carson Eickenloff, Kali Vanderhoof, and others this squad can be expected to remain dominant through the rest of their district schedule. Romo and Eickenloff have combined for a total of 472 kills this season while also combining for 50 aces. Vanderhoof averages nearly 7 digs per set and Bose leads the team in blocking with 57 blocks.
On deck for McKinney Boyd is Denton Braswell (16-14, 2-4) on Friday, September 29th at 5:30 in Denton. Last season, McKinney Boyd defeated Braswell 3-2 in sets during both appearances. This season, the Lady Broncos are looking to do much of the same while putting up strong plays on the court. With high game IQ this season and a drive to succeed, fans can expect the Lady Broncos to continue powering through their schedule en route to the playoffs.

The McKinney Boyd Lady Broncos advanced to a 20-5 overall record (6-1 in district play) on Tuesday, October 5th with a big win over Denton Braswell. Despite falling 29-27 in the first set, the Lady Broncos posted three straight wins (25-22, 25-14, 25-22) to complete the match.
McKinney Boyd currently sits at the No. 1 spot in their district over Denton Guyer and Prosper. The Lady Broncos have posted an 80% win percentage while outscoring their opponents 56-19 on the season. Leading in kills for the Lady Broncos is senior outside hitter Hannah Billeter. Billeter has posted 339 kills on the season in 71 sets played. Billeter has also racked up 12 aces, 281 digs, and two blocks. Leading in digging for McKinney Boyd is senior Avery Calame. Calame has accounted for 343 digs averaging 16 digs per match. Calame has also recorded seven blocks, seven aces, and 242 kills on the season.
Proving to be one of the best volleyball teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this season, the. McKinney Boyd Lady Broncos will continue to work through district play. Their next game is Friday, October 8th against Denton Guyer.
