MHSAA 5A Preview: West Point Eyes Four In A Row
By Brandon Shields
Will the dynasty continue? Can they make it four in a row? We'll have to wait and see but West Point has reached a point where expectations are always to get back to the state championship game and win it in December.
"Last year nobody expected us to have the year like we did," said West Point coach Chris Chambless. "A lot of people are expecting us not to do much this year and that just motivates the guys."
The rushing attack is always dominant and averaged 272.3 yards per game last year. Brandon Harris rushed for 1,225 of those yards with 20 touchdowns last year and will also see time at quarterback along with newcomer Gray Berry. Dantariyus Cannon and Jimothy Mays also return at running back to help lead the run game.

MHSAA 4A Preview: Poplarville Wants To Finish
By Brandon Shields
Poplarville has reached the Class 4A State Championship game two times in the last three years, coming up short in each of those contests. This is another very good roster capable of another deep playoff run in 4A and possibly back to the state title game.
"We got closer last year than we did the time before, but we lost a lot of seniors," said Poplarville coach Jay Beech. "This year we will have a lot of guys who have played a lot and know the system. They're hungry to get better and knows what it takes. I think we will be alright."
The Hornets did lose quarterback Antonio Barnes, whose started each of the last four seasons, but will have Blaise Breerwood to step in under center. The entire backfield is back to lead a rushing attack that averaged 340.1 yards per game last year.
