You can’t say we didn’t warn you. While Buda Johnson dispatched Clemens to remain atop our poll this week, there was some shuffling around the rest of the Rankings. Westlake fell twice – albeit it to ranked district rivals Bowie and Lake Travis – and dropped several spots. 5A Liberty Hill was the chief beneficiary, moving into the silver slot, followed by several other good teams. Meanwhile, Round Rock and East View popped onto the radar for the first time.

Numerous teams played in mid-season tournaments last week to further muddy the water. With plenty of head-to-head and rivalry matchups coming up, look for things to shake out further in the weeks ahead.

We’ll admit it if you will; there’s really not enough data – even after nearly a month of play – to accurately compile an accurate softball poll. District play has just begun for most of these squads and trying to determine a team’s strength from tournament games is about as accurate as drawing names from a hat.

Still, we’ve got to start somewhere, so here we go. Here’s our first crack at the 2025 Austin area Softball Power Rankings, based primarily on overall records and program pedigree.
