REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PREVIEW: Forney softball to face Hallsville
Texas high school softball continues to inch closer towards the biggest stage- the state tournament. Before teams can get there, though, they have to continue to make their way through the rest of playoffs and the opponents striving for the same goal. One of the Dallas-Fort Worth area softball teams continuing to represent the metroplex is Forney. VYPE DFW takes a deep dive into the Lady Jackrabbits as the team prepares to face-off against Hallsville.

Regular Season Dominance
The Lady Jackrabbits have been tough contenders each year as they play with a sense of urgency with the goal to be the best that they can be. This season, Forney posted an undefeated 14-0 district record (26-2-1 overall). Defeating the likes of Frisco Independence, Wylie East, Allen, Crandall, West Mesquite, Mesquite Poteet and more, the Lady Jackrabbits have outscored their opponents by a combined 192 runs. The team has been able to play with nearly unmatched defensive skill throughout the entirety of the season.
Playoffs
So far in playoffs, Forney has defeated Midlothian (13-2, 20-1) and Longview (4-2, 6-0). The Lady Jackrabbits defense has only allowed five runs against them in playoffs while scoring 43 runs of their own. As the team enters the regional quarterfinals, they are on a 21 game win-streak with no signs of slowing down.
What To Expect:
Hallsville is going to do everything they can to play up to Forney's level. The team has been able to be consistent throughout the season as they finished second in their district while posting a 78% winning percentage. Although the team will put up a fight, fans can expect Forney's regular level of play resulting in good fortune for the Lady Jackrabbits.
Game one of the series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11th with first pitch set for 7 p.m. at Tyler Legacy. Game two will be played on Friday at the same venue with a start time of 7 p.m. If necessary, game three will be Saturday at 7 p.m. also at Tyler Legacy.

The Mansfield Lake Ridge softball team has been striving to be the best this season. After a couple of rebuilding seasons and an early playoff exit last year, the Lady Eagles are back to a type of dominance you only see in Regional Quarterfinals and beyond during the Texas high school softball playoffs. VYPE DFW takes a deeper dive into Lake Ridge's season so far and what fans can expect from the Lady Eagles as they prepare to take on Harker Heights.

A Look Back
The Lady Eagles posted an incredible regular season schedule. During the preseason, Lake Ridge took down the likes of Wylie East, Red Oak, Melissa, Mesquite Horn, and more before heading into district play where they continued to showcase their skills on the diamond. During district play, the Lady Eagles dropped only two games against their opponents while defeating McKinney Boyd, Weatherford, Cedar Hill, Mansfield, DeSoto, Waco, and more to finish in the first place spot in their district. Outscoring their opponents by a combined 315-81 runs so far this season.
Playoffs
So far in playoffs, the Lake Ridge Lady Eagles have allowed only six runs against them while scoring 26 of their own. The Lady Eagles have ended the seasons of Bryan and Tyler Legacy- they now look towards Harker Heights. With a 25-6 overall record and an 81% winning percentage, the team is more than ready to fight for their chance to continue on their path towards the state tournament.
What To Expect
Harker Heights (32-7-1, 13-1) is a great team that's proving their worth in Texas high school softball. The team is led by strong athletes who know how to place the ball strategically in order to keep up with whoever their opponent is. This team isn't going to be an easy matchup, but fans should definitely expect to see Lake Ridge's defense rise to the occasion. The Lady Eagles are known for being able to quickly read their opponents and make adjustments in order to get the job done this season. Their offense will match the tempo and turn up the heat to finish strong.
Game one of this regional quarterfinals series is set to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11th at Harker Heights while game two will be played at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Mansfield Lake Ridge. If game three is necessary, it will be played on Friday at 7 p.m. at Tarleton State in Stephenville.
