BASES LOADED: No. 6 Santa Fe bringing back playoff-caliber roster
No. 6 -- Santa Fe Indians
2023: 19-15 (Finished 3rd in District/Bi-District Finalist)
Santa Fe took bronze a year ago, in a loaded district that featured the likes of Friendswood and La Porte, which is enough to assume that they’re perfectly capable of repeating that effort, if not improve upon it.
What separates the Indians from a significant portion of their district counterparts is the fact that they will be bringing back almost the entirety of their starting lineup in 2024.
Players such as Lucas Dunn, Braden Castle, Steven De Los Santos, and Jackson Higgins will be among the many weapons in coach Ronnie Wulf’s arsenal, as they pursue the coveted district championship and more.

PLAY BALL: Slayton will punish the ball for No. 6 Santa Fe
No. 6 Santa Fe Indians
The Indians went 30-7 in year one under Andrew Whittington and they return four starters off the team that reached the Regional Semifinals.
St. Thomas University-commit Mea Slayton was the District 18-5A Offensive MVP a year ago, hitting .311 with 13 doubles and 29 RBIs. Fellow outfielder Katelynn Torres hit .343 with 11 stolen bases and scored 27 runs while being named second-team, all-district.
Other players to watch include Mikayla Pruitt (.394), Mallory Richardson, Carlie Hrncir, Mikayla Nations, Mikayla Pruitt and Shelby Fraser.
Whittington knows his team will be “young with lots of room for growth and development” in 2024.
