District Preview: Colleyville Heritage is on the prowl
On the hunt for a repeat after last year's State Championship success, the Colleyville Heritage Lady Panthers have been off to a great start in non-district play already. Searching for a strong finish in their preseason schedule, the team looks toward their district ready to put up a fight against their opponents this season.
Non-District So Far
Colleyville Heritage has already posted a strong start to their season. Winning nine of their first ten matches, the team has posted a 23-7 record and a 77% winning percentage so far. Defeating Midlothian (2-0), Hereford (2-0), El Paso Coronado (2-0), Austin Vandegrift (2-1), Frisco Wakeland (2-1), and more, the team has been freshening up their on-court skills against each opponent. Shutting out 14 opponents already, the team is staring down it's final non-district games against Denton Guyer (9/1/23) and V.R. Eaton (9/5/23) before they head into district play.
What To Expect
On the road for their district opener on September 8th against Grapevine, fans can expect Colleyville Heritage to come onto the court ready to get their job done. Focused on winning and getting through each match set-by-set, the team is led by several incredible athletes such as Maddie Bird, Sarah Mendoza, Georgia Smith, Addison Arnold. Cadence Compton, Grace Nichter, Lucy Cisneros, Chase Robinson, and more. Ready to secure district, the Lady Panthers have what it takes to post another deep playoff run-- if not another state title finish.

Topping the VYPE DFW 5A preseason volleyball rankings is none other than the reigning state champions: Colleyville Heritage Lady Panthers. Looking forward to another great season, the Lady Panthers have everything it takes to repeat. Join us as we dive into their season last year and take a look at what’s to come!
REWIND
Posting only seven losses last season, Colleyville Heritage topped their year with a 3-1 victory over Frisco Reedy in the UIL State Volleyball Championship match. Before getting there, though, they went on an incredible 22-game win streak defeating the likes of Denton Guyer (3-0), V.R. Eaton (3-0), Richland (3-0), Birdville (3-0), Denton Ryan (3-0), and more.
Out of their 141 sets throughout the entire season, the Lady Panthers dropped only 27 sets combined against their opponents. Finishing at the top of their district standings with an undefeated 14-0 record and at the top of the state with a championship finish, the team is expected to hold strong again this upcoming season.
LOOKING AHEAD
With a strong leadership class returning in athletes like junior liber Sarah Mendoza, senior middle hitter Maddie Bird, junior outside hitter Grace Nichter, and more, the Lady Panthers are on the prowl for more victories. With a preseason schedule that will certainly prepare them for district play, Colleyville Heritage is ready to sharpen its claws.
The Lady Panthers opened their season with a 3-2 loss against a tough Southlake Carroll squad before posting a series of victories over Amarillo Tasco (2-0), Fort Worth Paschal (2-0), Midlothian (2-0), and more. With a 9-2 start in preseason play, Colleyville Heritage's next task is against VYPE DFW 6A number one ranked Highland Park on Tuesday, August 15th at home. Through preseason play, the team will work their way toward a district schedule that they are no strangers to. Fans can expect to see the Lady Panthers march into playoffs with ease for another incredible push.
