VYPE Houston Friday Night Lights Scoreboard (9.3.21): Atascocita ends Allen's 122-game home winning streak, Full Scoreboard
HOUSTON - In their last 123 home games the Allen Eagles are now 122-1.
That one was delivered by Atascocita on Friday night as the Houston-based Eagles soared in and behind stellar performances by Gavin Session and Chase Sowell, who connected on a few touchdowns, defeated Allen 41-20, handing them their first home loss in quite some time, including the first at Allen Eagle Stadium - ending a 54-game winning streak there.
"Big," Atascocita coach Craig Stump said about the level of the win for his program. "The best part is how we did it. They did not give it to us with turnovers. We just beat them."
The loss for Allen also ends an 84-game regular season winning streak, which was the longest active streak in Texas only ahead of Denton Ryan's 60, which was also ended on Friday night. It is their first home loss October 29, 2010 and first regular season loss since September 28, 2012.
The win comes after last season Atascocita went up to Allen and was defeated 52-27.
Session absolutely balled out going 16 of 28 for 300 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Session added another 117 yards and a score on the ground giving him 417 total yards of offense. Sowell, who was Session's top target, finished with six catches for 174 yards and three scores in the win.
Ja'Marri Green chipped in 89 yards on the ground, while Tyras Winfield had 88 yards and a score. Keith Wheeler reeled in an interception to seal the victory for Atascocita.
What was even more impressive by Atascocita was that in the win they executed a pair of 98-yard drives.
A win like this for Atascocita is program-defining for the Eagles who are seeking to make a deep playoff run since reaching the UIL State Semifinals back in 2016.
