The Wrap: Paetow, Katy, C.E. King leave little doubt; Atascocita, Spring win thrillers
HOUSTON - It was a night full of big scores and some thrilling finishes to close out the Area Round action on Friday night, leaving just a pair of Saturday games to close out the week.
Many teams left little doubt, including Katy Paetow - beating Manor 58-22 and securing its first-ever Area Round win. Katy looked like the defending state champs, rolling past Stratford 59-7, while North Shore, Tompkins, C.E. King, Ridge Point, Summer Creek and Tomball all had dominating wins.
For C.E. King it was a historic win as they move on to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 1989.
Atascocita had to kick a field goal with four seconds left to down Dickinson 22-21 and Spring staved off Klein Cain in a 56-53 thriller.

So, the winners move on to practice on Thanksgiving week, which for any coach means that you have reached the third round of the playoffs.
The next round gives us some thrilling day and night match-ups for next Friday and Saturday for the Regional Semi-Finals. Some of the more intriguing ones include Katy facing C.E. King, Manvel taking on Hightower and Ridge Point locking horns with Atascocita.

VYPE Friday Night Lights Scoreboard (9.10.21): Bridgeland, Clear Falls, Cinco Ranch, Westfield continue HOT starts
HOUSTON - There were a plethora of huge games across the Greater Houston Area on Friday night.
Bridgeland, led by Texas A&M-commit Conner Weigman survived a late surge by The Woodlands to maintain their undefeated start to the season, winning 39-35.

Cinco Ranch extended its best start since 2015 with another win, while New Caney improved to 12-0 all-time against Porter with a dominating 41-14 victory in the annual Battle Line on 59 game. Pasadena Dobie continued its dominant start, winning 63-6 over Friendswood and now having outscored opponents 188-6 in their 3-0 start, which is riduculous.
Westfield got arguably the biggest win of the night defeating North Shore 27-21. The two Houston perennial playoff powers collided in what ended up being an instant classic.
Strake Jesuit's Bryce Fucik went OFF on Friday with an eight-touchdown performance, while Paetow's Jacob Brown rushed for over 270 yards in the Panthers' win to remain undefeated. In the private school world, Kinkaid remained undefeated with a 48-41 victory over St. Thomas, handing the Eagles' their first loss of the year, while St. Pius X defeated Bishop Lynch with a late touchdown and John Cooper School registered their first win of the season.
