SPC Runner-Up: FW Country Day Girls Swim
With a strong season in the water, several Fort Worth Country Day athletes were able to enter the pool at the SPC Championships. With determination and strength, the girls' swim team secured a second-place finish at the SPC Championship meet.
Athletes like Bella Xu, Chloe Nelson, Emily Nelson, Murphy Hoefer, and more competed hard at the championship meet including a second-place finish in the girls' 200-yard medley relay and several near-the-top finishes in other races. The Falcons have had several strong seasons and look to come back just as strong next season. Geared up for off-season training, fans can expect these swimmers to put in the work necessary to compete at a top-level performance again next season.
SPC CHAMPS: Greenhill Girls and Boys Swim Teams Seal Victory
Effort and talent are just two words that can describe the Greenhill Hornets swim program. A combined effort from all of their athletes helped lead both the boys and girls to state titles-- adding another trophy to their case.
Zachary Geller, JJ Arbuckle, Lucas Wang, and Daniel Walker recorded 18 points to finish in first place position during the boys 200-yard medley relay. The team finished four points ahead of second place Cistercian. On the girls' end of the 200-yard medley relay, Josie Arbuckle, Sasha Wai, Katherine Feng, and Avery Lonergan finished with 18 points in the first-place spot-- four points ahead of Hockaday.
Continuing to add to their score, Geller, Zachary Lipnik, Ethan Strauss, and Aiden White competed in the boys' 200-yard freestyle. Geller finished in second for 7 points, Lipnik in third for 6 points, Strauss in fourth for 5 points, and White in seventh for 2 points. On the girls' end, Lonergan took the first-place spot for 9 points.
JJ Arbuckle (first), Wang (second), Oliver Ferris-Rojas (third), and Max Backover (sixth) combined for 25 points in the boys 200 yard IM while Josie Arbuckle (first), Wai (seventh), and Feng (eighth) combined for 12 points in the girls' 200 yard IM.
Walker, Seth Lee, and Oliver Burke raced in the 50-yard freestyle combining for 15 points while Lonergan tallied 7 points on the girls' end.
Continuing strong, Greenhill competed through the rest of the heats with top-finishing athletes in the boys' 100-yard butterfly (Arbuckle, Wang, Benji Lachar, Backover), girls' 100-yard butterfly (Arbuckle, Feng), boys' 100-yard freestyle (Geller, Walker, Lee, Justin Wu), boys 500-yard freestyle (Ferris-Rojas, Lipnik, Strauss), girls' 500-yard freestyle (Lonegan, Eliana Campbell, Sarah Fradkin), and many other events throughout the day.
