Fast Southlake Carroll Start Results In UIL 6A State Title; Gives Tompkins 1st Loss
There was no question who the 2019 UIL 6A girls soccer state champion or championship game MVP were. That's because Southlake Carroll (28-1-2) beat Katy Tompkins (27-1-0) 5-0, and Madison Drenowatz scored three goals in the match to clinch the program's second state title since 2008.
"Unbelievable," Drenowatz said after the win. "Been working at it for four years. This is something that I've wanted forever, and it's finally here, and I can't be more excited."

Southlake's hot streak started with back-to-back Drenowatz scores at the 8:09 and 12:53 marks of the match. Then, Taylor Tufts wrapped up the first half was an unassisted goal at 18:55.
"Come out and attack," Drenowatz said of the plan coming in. "We knew that we had to set the tone early, and that's exactly what we did."
Drenowatz scored her third goal at 51:06, and Sydney Nobles wrapped up the match with one at 55:17.
"Just really proud of the girls," said Carroll coach Matthew Colvin. "The way they prepared, especially over this last month and the way they stayed focused. It was all business, and it's amazing what a group can do when they put their minds to it."
