FINAL FOUR WEEKEND: Second Baptist School girls; St. Thomas boys headline H-Town finalists
It’s Final Four weekend for TAPPS girls and boys basketball.
The Greater Houston-area has several State hopefuls.
Starting with the girls. the Second Baptist Schools Eagles face St. Mary’s Hall Thursday at 2 pm with hopes of playing in Friday’s finals. On the other side of the bracket pits Liberty Christian of Argyle and Grace Community School of Tyler.
In Class 3A, Rosehill Christian will face Brazos Christian of Bryan after knocking off Faith Academy of Marble Falls. The other semifinal matchup will be Lubbock Christian School vs San Jacinto Christian of Amarillo.

On the boys’ side, St. Thomas is having a breakout season and has reached the State Final Four. The Eagles face John Paul II. If they win, they will play either Trinity Christian Academy or Prestonwood Christian.
St. Thomas Episcopal has reached the Class 4A boys Final Four and will face Veritas Academy. On the other side of the bracket stands Trinity Christian School and McKinney Christian Academy.
In Class 3A, Westbury Christian School will face St. Francis Episcopal School in the semis. On the other side are Lubbock Christian and Akiba Yavneh Academy of Dallas.
Grace Christian Academy will face Legacy Christian of Beaumont in Class 2A.
TAPPS WRAP: Village School wins crown; Rosehill Christian, Westbury Christian finish as runner-ups
It was a busy weekend in West, Texas as TAPPS put a bow on their 2019-2020 boys and girls basketball seasons.
We will start with the girls and with that The Village School.
This team started as VYPE's preseason No. 1 team and for good reason. They were loaded. The Vikings didn't disappoint this year finishing 37-3 and winning the TAPPS 6A State Championship over Prestonwood Christian.
The Vikings raced out to a 22-12 lead before extending it to 39-20 at the half. The Village School outscored them in every quarter the rest of the way to win big, claiming the 75-48 victory and the title.

The other Houston-area women's basketball team that made the TAPPS State Finals was the Second Baptist School.
The Eagles got into a battle with Southwest Christian out of Fort Worth early. At the half, Second Baptist School trailed 34-30. In the third quarter, Southwest Christian was able to balloon that lead nearly to 30. But the Second Baptist School fought back, cutting the lead down to 11 with 2:51 remaining.
In the end, Second Baptist School fell 73-63.

TAPPS BOYS HOOPS
The Woodlands Christian Academy entered the year as VYPE's No. 2 team in the city amongst the private schools. On Saturday, they captured the program's sixth state title since 2008. It is Tanner Field's second since taking over the program four years ago.

Outside of TWCA, there were other Houston-area teams in the mix for titles.
Rosehill Christian made its first title game appearance defeating Brazos Christian School 77-61 to advance to the program's first-ever title game. The Eagles, on Saturday, fell short to Yavneh Academy of Dallas, 50-35, in the TAPPS 3A State Title game.
Finally, Westbury Christian advanced to the TAPPS 5A State Title game after an 82-45 win over Lutheran South Academy on Friday. In the finals, Westbury Christian ran into Legacy Christian - Frisco and fell in a close one, 62-59.
