VYPE U: College Park Girl's Cross Country Making Strides
Early Saturday morning, fans and teammates alike lined up along the College Park High School field to witness the fifth cross country race of the season for the College Park Lady Cavaliers. Additional teams in attendance included Oak Ridge, Caney Creek, and Conroe High. After placing fifth at last week's Nike South meet, the Cavaliers were able to bounce back and win First place this week.
"I think individually and as a team, we worked better at starting at the top and maintaining our place during the race. Each race we get better and better at working together to reach our goal," sophomore varsity runner, Lindsey Jahnke said.
The top finishers this week for the Cavaliers were Robyn Kowalski, Presley Robinson, Lauren Garner, Kaylee Cole, and Lindsey Jahnke. Overall, the entire team performed well and worked together to compete fiercely against their opponents. Since the beginning of the season, the team has seen many improvements and has accomplished many milestones together.
"I think that the team has seen a lot of good things so far this season. We have had several PRs and are gradually working closer to the goals we have set. The varsity team tends to change week to week, which I think has encouraged competition and has led to a lot of improvement," varsity runner, Lauren Garner said.
The Lady Cavaliers are looking to reclaim their District title again this year after winning the District last fall. The District meet will take place on October 29th. Until then, the team will be competing at Atascocita this weekend (10/17) and College Park the following weekend (10/22). Due to their teamwork, determination, and success, the sky is the limit for the College Park Girls Cross Country Team this season.
