HOOPS PREVIEW: TCA boys look sharp
Just like UIL, TAPPS basketball is in full swing. One of the teams looking to make waves this season is the Trinity Christian Academy - Addison Trojans. Ranked at the no. 7 spot in the VYPE DFW Private School Preseason Boys Basketball Rankings, the TCA Trojans are working hard to continue ascending the list. VYPE DFW dives into what fans should expect going forward this season.
A Look Back
Last season, the Trojans posted a 19-15 overall record (3-5 in district) and finished third in their district before making a playoffs appearance. Facing off against some of the toughest teams in the area, the Trojans secured big victories over the likes of Bishop Dunne, Frisco Legacy Christian Academy, Dallas Christian School, Fort Worth Christian, Parish Episcopal, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic, and more. In playoffs, the Trojans worked hard to put up a fight against Fort Worth Nolan Catholic, but ultimately fell 42-39.
2022-23
Building off of last season's success and looking to be better than ever, the Trojans have kicked off the 2022-23 season on the right foot. Opening their season with a 70-53 victory over Dallas Thunder, the Trojans continued to make statement victories as they won four more games in a row. So far during non-district play, the Trojans have defeated the likes of Plano Coram Deo Academy, Bishop Dunne, Arlington Grace Prep, Argyle Liberty Christian, and more with their most recent victory coming in a 68-52 win over DasCHE on Tuesday evening.
With a 9-2 record to start the season, the Trojans are definitely showing that they have all the makings of a great season. Trinity Christian Academy - Addison has a tournament and three more non-district games left before the start of district play. Fans can certainly expect to watch the team continue to develop and get better before stepping onto the court for their first district game against Bishop Dunne on December 13th.
If you're in the area, you should check out these athletes this winter. They're determined with their eyes set on greatness!
SEASON PREVIEW: TCA Trojans ready to dominate!
The Trojans have been working on making a big name for themselves as well as Trinity Christian Academy - Addison over the last few seasons. This year, the team is ready to get the ball going in Week One to show exactly what they've been working on during summer workouts. VYPE DFW headed out to a football practice at TCA to get a look inside the program and show fans what they can expect heading into this fall season.
A Look Back
Last season, the Trojans posted a 9-2 overall record. The team had huge wins over the likes of Dallas Christian (who went on to win their district's state championship title), Legacy Christian, Kelly Catholic, Southwest Christian School, and more en route to playoffs. Although the team had a strong entrance into playoffs and played hard against their opponents, they ultimately fell as they tried to move further into the playoffs.
Despite a heartbreaking exit from playoffs, the team was able to post an incredible season while sharpening their tools to prepare for the offseason. The team headed into the offseason with a mission to come into the Fall 2022 season with one goal in mind: finishing the job.
What To Expect
The Trojans are returning great players this season including Luke Doré, Luke Johnston, Jake Callahan, Chance Snyder, Tripp Arthur, and more. Last season, Doré racked up 6.5 sacks on defense while Callahan tallied 5.5 of his own. Snyder recorded 6 tackles and two interceptions while Arthur brought in an interception of his own. Being led by athletes who are on the same mission and have the same desire to compete will prove to be beneficial to the Trojans this season. Although TCA lost a handful of really great seniors last season, the new upperclassmen have seen some of the toughest teams in the area and can be expected to play with everything they've got in order to continue striving to be the best they can be on and off the field.
Catch Them In Action
The Trojans will open their season at home this year against Episcopal School of Dallas at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 26th. From there, the team will continue on in their preseason schedule as they face off against All Saints, Gunter, Fort Bend Christian, Vidor, and Southwest Christian School en route to district play.
