PREVIEW: Warriors always bounce back
After a less than ideal season last year, the Argyle Liberty Christian School Warriors basketball team is back on track and ready to enter district play with one of the strongest non-district records they have had. As the team gears up to close out their final tournament before district starts, VYPE DFW takes a look into exactly what fans can expect from the Warriors en route to playoffs.
A Look Back
Last season, the Warriors did not make a playoff appearance after finishing third in their district. Despite starting things off with a three-game win streak against Grapevine Faith, Legacy Christian, and Yavneh Academy, the Warriors posted a rollercoaster of a season in which they finished with a 10-15 overall record (2-4 in district play). The Warriors posted great victories over the likes of Celina (54-47), Anna (61-55), Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal School (70-52, 64-51), and more, but it wasn't enough to power Argyle Liberty Christian to post season play.
So far this season
Using last season as a stepping stone on their path to greatness, the Warriors have started this season on a much hotter streak. Posting non-district victories over the likes of Brighter Horizons Academy (77-60), Legacy Christian Academy (88-83), Bishop Dunne (93-32), Royse City (75-66), Anna (80-77), and more the Warriors are showcasing their talent on the court this season.
Led by Jimmy Houst, Spencer Anderson, Kason Simpson, Caden Taylor, Tre Turner, Brady Janusek, and more, Liberty Christian has outscored their opponents by over 200 points this season-- and district play hasn't even started yet.
Looking Ahead
The team has two more games before they enter district play- two games that they should be able to perform well in. They currently have an 18-8 overall record and will look to finish preseason play strong against Alvarado and Fort Worth Northside. The team will face a slew of strong opponents in district play (like Southwest Christian School, Midland Christian, Fort Worth Christian, and Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal School). With their current strength and level of determination, fans can expect to see the Warriors put up a strong district schedule and make a major case for a deep playoff run this season.
The Warriors open district play in Fort Worth where they face off against Southwest Christian School. Be sure you catch them in action this season!
