THE POWER RANKINGS: 5A showdowns shake up this week’s area volleyball rankings
Dripping Springs continued to roll with a 3-1 win over Lake Travis and a sweep of Akins to remain atop this week’s 4A-6A rankings – but there was definitely some movement beneath the Lady Tigers. Austin High, Buda Johnson and Vandegrift all cruised to a perfect week to move up, bracketing 4A power Wimberley who also went 2-0 last week.
The real action was in 5A where Cedar Park edged Liberty Hill in five sets on the road and Weiss knocked off Georgetown to churn the rankings. Round Rock also had a perfect week to remain in the Top 10.
#1 Dripping Springs hosts #2 Austin High on Tuesday (10/2) in a massive District 26-6A clash.
