After several weeks where nearly all 13 VYPE Austin PxP broadcasters posted gaudy records at one point or another, the Week 11 crop of games caused everyone fits. (Exhibit A: Westwood vs. Vista Ridge). This writer (Vandegrift PxP) and Melvin Jones (Regents) won the week with mediocre 7-3 marks. Essentially, however, we simply swapped wins and losses with Farrel and only picked up a single game overall, to finish in second and third, respectively.
For the first time all season, multiple pickers suffered .500 weeks or worse. We’ll award a special shout-out to Bryan Reed (East View PxP) who good naturedly said, “I’ll pick all the VYPE teams.” Reed promptly went 3-7 and plummeted in the standings. Brutal for him (and our teams!)
Our cumulative record for the 13 of us combined was 968-397 for a winning percentage of .709. Not bad for a bunch of amateurs.
Overall, everyone stayed the course and picked the entire season; even those who had no chance of catching up and despite the fact that the winner earned absolutely nothing for his achievement. So thanks to Jack Farrell (Manor ISD PxP); Melvin Jones (Regents); Matt Lorenz (Liberty Hill); David Roy (Austin High(; Josh Willard (Cedar Park); Tyler Ulses (Crocket/Westwood); Josh Blanch (Misc.); Cecil Coconougher (Cedar Park producer); Michael Rose (Hutto); Bryan Reed (East View); Adam Neuberger (Anderson); and Jeff Goen (Hyde Park) who all joined me in this endeavor, and you folks playing along at home.
Now that the regular season is done, so are we. On to the playoffs!
