After a scoreless third quarter, Mascarenas capped a Bronco scoring drive with a 5-yard run that proved to be the winning score. Cedar Park mounted one last drive but came up empty on fourth down, turning it over to the Broncos at their own 4-yard line. Lake Belton ran out the clock to secure the huge win.
Senior quarterback Eli Mascarenas (7-7, 103 yds., TD, rushing TD) and junior Maverick Maddux (8-12, 152 yds., TD) split time under center for the Broncos. Cooper (11-19, 176 yds., 2 TDs.; 10-70 rushing) paced the Cedar Park attack.
Lake Belton’s win lifted the Broncos (4-1, 6-2) into a three-way tie with Cedar Park (4-1, 5-3) and Georgetown atop a tightly packed District 8-5A-1.
