The VYPEU Stratford Spotlight series dives into what Stratford High School Athletes are doing to stay on top of their game during the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Stratford High School junior Caroline Parnell has never been one to back down from a challenge, but after UIL officially cancelled all spring athletics, there wasn't much she could do, besides abide by the lockdown guidelines and find other ways to stay in shape.
"For most people the most difficult thing [about the cancellation of school] might be not being able to finish their seasons, but for me, I just miss playing soccer," Parnell said.
In an attempt to stay in shape, she has been running four to five miles a day, totaling about 18 a week. In addition to her daily run, Parnell has started to throw in weekly Fitness Challenges, to give her day-to-day workouts some variety. This week Parnell plans to participate in the US Army Physical Fitness Test, which consists of a timed-two mile run, two minutes of push-ups and two minutes of sit-ups.
Although she misses playing soccer, Parnell has found her own ways to stay on her game while being in the safety of her own home.
