These consecutive clean sheets throughout the postseason highlight the strict dedication instilled by head coach Travis Smith as he and the Knights seek their seventh championship in the past decade.
Veteran leadership will be key at this stage, and few players are more capable than the 2024 All-SPC selections Geronimo Barroso (Sr. CM), Lorenzo Juarez (Sr. CB), and Sebastian Guerra (So. MF).
That said, this run has been a team effort. Don’t overlook the contributions of Eduardo Mora Garza (Jr. LW), Jack Jacobs (Sr. RW), Jacon Holzhauser (Jr. CB), Richard Agyeman-Yeboah (Jr. ST), Joshua Lynch (Jr. LB), and junior goalkeeper Jared Piñeda.
On the other side, Greenhill earned the No. 1 seed for their strong regular-season performance.
They cemented their status as title contenders with a 2-1 victory over St. Mark’s on Friday, punching their ticket to the championship game.
Under head coach Paul Field, the Hornets are chasing their first SPC plaque since the 2005-2006 season.
While Episcopal has the advantage in experience, anything can happen when these two teams face off at Castleberry High School on Saturday at 12:30 PM.

Kinkaid’s journey to the championship has been a tough one, as coach Stacey Marshall ensured her team faced some of the best public schools in Texas, including Boswell, Duncanville, Brennan, Fredericksburg, Hightower, and Summer Creek.
Despite their relative youth, Kinkaid has excelled on the court.
The Falcons’ offensive attack is led by a talented group of sophomores: Ma’Ryiah Alfred, Sydney Marshall, Lauren Hull, and Kamdyn Flora, all of whom have been pivotal in their dominant performances.
Should everything fall into place, Kinkaid is poised to capture its first title since the team’s three-peat from 2017 to 2019.
On the opposite side, Greenhill is looking for its first title since 2020.
The Hornets (23-7) have been formidable throughout the tournament, defeating Hockaday 62-42 and the 2024 champs Episcopal 74-49 to reach the final.
Greenhill’s star player is sophomore guard Diya Jain, who has been outstanding, averaging nearly 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists per game.
Jain is supported by fellow sophomores Ava John (13 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg, 3 spg) and Inari Huynh (8 ppg, 2 rpg, 2 apg), along with senior leader Vivian Franklin (12 ppg, 6 rpg, 5 apg), who provides experience and stability.
The stage is set for a thrilling championship showdown between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. The SPC Girls Basketball Championship will tip off at Trinity Valley at 12:30 PM, promising an exciting conclusion to the season.

Although the Knights lost key players to graduation—Justin Begg (George Mason) and Jakeel Registe (Blinn)—they’ve quickly reloaded with new talent. Aiden Fyfe, Alim Olajuwon, Brandon Thomas, and Christian Houston have all played pivotal roles under the leadership of coach Wayne Jones.
After securing a decisive 81-71 victory over St. John’s on Thursday and edging out top-seeded Houston Christian 58-55 in a nail-biting semifinal, Episcopal now sets its sights on back-to-back championships.
On the other side of the court, Greenhill doesn’t have to travel far, hailing from Addison, TX, just north of downtown Dallas.
The Hornets (27-4) dominated St. Stephen’s 70-45 in their opening matchup before narrowly defeating St. Mark’s 60-58 in the semifinals.
Coached by Joey Sims, Greenhill boasts a talented starting five led by the dynamic duo of Jaxson Thompson and Dillon Watt.
Thompson, averaging just under 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game, is the team’s leading scorer, while Watt is not far behind, contributing 18.3 points and 3.9 assists per game.
The Hornets also benefit from strong contributions in the paint. Junior forward Kameron Smith (10 ppg, 8 rpg) and senior forward Bryson Watt (4 ppg, 6 rpg) provide muscle in the post, allowing players like Juan Barrientos (10 ppg, 2 apg) and Trey Davis (8 ppg, 5 rpg) to shine in critical moments.
If Greenhill were to dethrone Episcopal, it would result in the Hornets capturing their first-ever championship.
The SPC basketball season concludes today at 2:45 PM on Trinity Valley’s court, where Episcopal and Greenhill will face off in a championship matchup that's sure to deliver plenty of intrigue.
