The Prospectus
Brenham had an up and down regular season before advancing to the UIL 5A Division II Region IV Semifinal in 2018, and will use its 11 returning starters to go after the outright district title in 2019. The Cubs expect big seasons from defensive lineman Lonnie Brown, offensive lineman Garrett Wiesepape, quarterback Garrison Weiss, running back/linebacker Daylonn McCowan and linebacker Dane Howk.
Leander Glenn won seven games and advanced to the UIL 5A Division II area round in its first varsity season in 2018, and is aiming to top those marks with its 11 returning starters in 2019. The Grizzlies will lean on defensive lineman Kallon Guyton, defensive backs Dominic Sullivan and Alec'Zander Townsley, running back Julian Morris, receivers Jarvis Henderson and Shamir Nichols and offensive linemen Nikolas Maddux and Ayrton Hignojos.
Bastrop has 12 returning starters from its 6-5 season and UIL 5A Division II bi-district appearance in 2018, so another playoff appearance seems imminent for the 2019 season. The Bears have key players in quarterback Desmond Young, linebacker Tyrin Smith, receiver Cole Tidwell, running back Eddie Brown and defensive backs Fayzion Madison and Keylin Hodge.

Georgetown East View returns 10 starters from its 6-5 season and UIL 5A Division II bi-district finish, so it'll compete for another playoff appearance in 2019. The Patriots have productive athletes in running back/defensive back Isaiah Quinton-Jackson, quarterback Jackson Coulson, defensive back DK Little, offensive lineman Ethan Holan and defensive lineman Roland Hines.

Cedar Creek missed the UIL 5A postseason in 2018, but will challenge for a spot in 2019 because of its 16 returning starters. The Eagles have a major recruit in defensive lineman Alfred Collins, plus receiver Javon Livingston and linebackers Cade Edwards, Reggie Smith and Josh Garza.

Elgin recorded a 4-6 record during its non-playoff season in 2018, but its 15 returning starters is a great starting point for the 2019 season. The Wildcats have quarterback Peter McFarlin, linemen Jordan Hood, Cedric Truitt and Shaun Akinremi and defensive backs Terron Johnson and Daveon Isom.

Marble Falls finished the 2018 season with a .500 record, and it'll be in the playoff mix because of its 13 returning starters in 2019. The Mustangs still have defensive lineman/tight end Joshua Whitecotton, defensive lineman/tight end Samuel May, defensive back Ben Anderson and quarterback Luke Nail on the roster.
Pflugerville Weiss didn't win a game in its first varsity season, but has a remarkable 22 returning starters for the 2019 season. The Wolves have important athletes in linebacker Zach Lenz, linemen Christian Hamilton and Diego Cruz, receivers Stewart Miller and CJ Meeks, defensive back Edric Whitley and running back Devin Cross.
