Ring Season: Seven Lakes volleyball, Katy football receive state championship rings
HOUSTON - There's nothing better than celebrating a state championship.
On Monday night, the Seven Lakes volleyball and Katy football teams gathered to celebrate their 2020 State Championships, including receiving their rings.
The Spartans finished their season 25-1 overall and defeated Klein 3-1 in the Class 6A State Championship match in December. It is the first Houston-area team to win the state title in the UIL's largest classification since The Woodlands did it in 2013 and 2014.
The Seven Lakes ring, which was made by Uptown Diamond, featured the Spartans blue and orange logo on the top with State Champions surrounding it. On the bottom of the ring etched in is the team's motto from the season "It's Time".

"I love that we put 'it's time' because that was our motto for the season that our team came up with since there were so many seniors and we always talked about this being our year, and not just make it to state but it was time to bring home the gold," Seven Lakes senior Emma Manuel said.
On the football side, Katy rumbled its way to its first state championship since 2015 and ninth overall for the program this past fall going 14-1 overall. The Tigers defeated Cedar Hill, 51-14, to claim the Class 6A Division II State Championship.
"The main goal from the beginning of each off-season was to work hard and persevere to get the job done and we did it," Katy junior and Texas A&M-commit Bobby Taylor said. "No better feeling."

The Tigers got their ring on Monday, which was massive, with the Katy Tiger red logo in the center surrounded by diamonds. On the side is a big No. 9 with nine red stones embedded in it, signifying the number of titles the program has won and around the edge of the top of the ring lists the years that Katy has won a state championship.
"It looks and feels awesome," Katy senior Jayden Rodriguez said.
Texas A&M-signee Fernando Garza added: "So dope! Way bigger than I expected."
