Comparitively to most teams in the Houston-Area, Barbers Hill will be senior heavy, which will bode well for fourth-year coach Casey Veen (296-111).
Veen will have two “win” milestones in 2023 as she will pass 300 total career wins and 100 wins at The Hill. Last year, Barbers Hill went 40-7 overall and reached the Regional Quarterfinals.
Six starters return for the Eagles including Peyton Fadal (Houston Christian-commit), who was the District 17-5A Co-MVP of the Year, GHVCA Setter of the Year and TGCA All-State. Fadal finished 2022 with 1,080 assists.
District 17-5A Newcomer of the Year Chloe Morgan (Loyola-Chicago) is also back after recording 201 kills and 110 blocks a year ago.
Other names to remember include Aemilie Broussard (248 digs, 208 kills), Peyton Spahn (171 kills, 49 blocks), Mia Rivers (430 digs) and Malia Martinez (239 digs).
Keys to success for Veen’s squad this year include team chemistry, defense and staying committed to the process.
