Last year, the St. Pius X swim teams took a pair of boys relay teams to state. The hope is to take an even a bigger contingent to the final meet of the year this season.
Led by coach Jessica Peterson, the St. Pius X swim program brings back some firepower. Daniella Young enters her fourth year on the swim team as the best breaststroker and team captain. Matthew Mason is the best freestyler and Chris Cano is the best butterflyer.
A breakout star could be freshman Stephanie Birkelbach, who could be the team's best medley swimmer with a high chance to make it to state.
