Fort Bend Marshall Football Report presented by T-Mobile

HOUSTON – We all knew how good Fort Bend Marshall could be in 2019.

The program that played for a state championship a year ago returned two key pieces – its quarterback and running back. Not only did they return but have not disappointed with big performances.

Coming off a loss to Manvel, the Buffs righted the ship against Houston Sterling in a 69-21 victory, in which they led 28-7 after the first quarter.

Achane went off again.

The senior rushed for five touchdowns in the first half. Yes, five in the first half and actually scored four times in a row. Achane finished with 14 carries for 171 yards. He averaged 12.2 yards per carry.

Hornsby also looked good, going over 100 yards passing and rushing again. The quarterback finished 7 of 13 for 118 yards and one score. Hornsby rushed for another 113 yards on 12 carries.

The duo has combined to rush for 1,087 yards and 14 touchdowns. That is a dangerous combo.

This week, Fort Bend Marshall hosts Willowridge, which is coming off a 61-0 victory over Sharpstown, on Friday with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

The Marshall offense enters Week 6 as the No. 2 unit in District 11-5A-DII, while its defense is No. 1 giving up only 188.2 yards per game.
