V.R. Eaton Eagles vs. Keller Indians -- Friday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m.

Eaton Eagles

The Eaton Eagles have played really well this season against strong competitors. Their only loss came in their last non-district game against Denton Braswell. From then, Eaton has not slowed down as they have defeated Fossil Ridge and school-district rival Trophy Club Byron Nelson so far in district play.

Senior quarterback Tyler Fussell has been making quite the name for himself this season. Fussell has thrown for nearly 1,300 passing yards and 12 touchdowns with a 61% pass completion so far this year. On the ground for Eaton, Fussell has accounted for 247 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. Other players to keep an eye on for Eaton includes JB Brown who has accounted for seven touchdowns and 716 rushing yards on 89 carries, Charles Whitebear who has four touchdowns and 449 rushing yards to his name, Jayden Platt who has 373 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Christopher Anderson who has 286 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Keller Indians

Keller is coming off of a loss to a strong Southlake Carroll squad. With a 5-1 overall record and 1-1 district record, the Indians are going to want to show their strength coming in against a team like V.R. Eaton. The team has posted strong wins against the likes of Keller Central, North Mesquite, and more. There's no doubt that they will be looking to add another district win to their record.

Keller quarterback Tre Guerra has thrown for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns. Amarion Henry has nine touchdowns to his name with 602 receiving yards on 29 catches. Austin Coleman has carried the ball 93 times for 589 yards and seven touchdowns. Keller's offense definitely has what it takes to put up a fight against Eaton on Friday.

What To Expect:

The Keller Indians are strong, but are they strong enough to stand up to the challenge of not only a strong V.R. Eaton offense, but a strong V.R. Eaton defense as well? Eaton playing in their home atmosphere after a big win against Byron Nelson might be too much to handle for Keller on Friday night.

Rockwall (4-2) vs. Tyler Legacy (3-2)

Rockwall Yellowjackets vs. Tyler Legacy Raiders -- Friday, October 8 at 7 p.m.

Rockwall Yellowjackets

After a BYE week, the big question is whether or not the Yellowjackets will begin to prove themselves yet again. Rockwall posted a strong 3-0 start to the season including a huge win over Austin Lake Travis. Despite such a great start, Rockwall soon fell to the likes of Highland Park and Rockwall-Heath. Both losses were still incredible games for the Yellowjackets, but were the losses detrimental enough to shake Rockwall up and derail them from their goal?

Quarterback Braedyn Locke has thrown for 1,851 yards and 16 touchdowns this season while also scoring two rushing touchdowns. Zach Hernandez has scored eight rushing touchdowns on over 1,000 rushing yards and Noble Johnson has scored seven touchdowns on 541 receiving yards. Rockwall's offense has the stats to put up against any team that they face.

Tyler Legacy Raiders

The Raiders are coming into the game against Rockwall with an unblemished district record. Their only two losses on the season came in preseason play against tough Longview and Allen teams. Last week, they posted an outstanding 42-7 win over Dallas Skyline and will bring the same energy into Friday looking to prove the naysayers wrong.

The main weapon to watch on the Raiders' team is senior running back Bryson Donnell. Donnell has accounted for seven rushing touchdowns and 295 rushing yards on 47 carries. He's going to prove to be a threat to Rockwall's defense.

What To Expect:

Fans can expect a strong game from Rockwall's defense. They want this win probably more than anybody wants a win this week. They want to prove that their amazing start to the season and their win over Austin Lake Travis wasn't just a happy accident. Expect Rockwall to come out ready to show off.

Denton Guyer (6-0) vs. Denton Braswell (4-2)

Denton Guyer vs. Denton Braswell -- Friday, October 8 at 7 p.m.

Denton Guyer Wildcats

Denton Guyer has been an unstoppable force so far in the 2021-22 season. Making statement wins over the likes of Denton Ryan and Atascocita, it doesn't look like the Wildcats will be slowing down any time soon.

Quarterback Jackson Arnold has thrown for 1,414 yards this season and 12 touchdowns. He has also rushed for four touchdowns. Aside from Arnold, Guyer has strong weapons on their offense like Byron Phillips who has scored seven rushing touchdowns on 67 carries. Grayson O'Bara and Jace Wilson have both accounted for three receiving touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Denton Braswell Bengals

Denton Braswell has posted a 1-1 district record so far (4-2 overall). With big wins over the likes of Mesquite Horn, Sachse, and V.R. Eaton the Bengals have proven that they do have strength where it counts. The question here is whether their offense can put up a fight against Denton Guyer.

Braswell has one of the best defenses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. They have what it takes to likely put a stop to Jackson Arndold and his compadres, but will Braswell's offense step up to the challenge?

What To Expect:

Denton Guyer is hungry this season. Hungry for a district title, hungry for a state title, and simply hungry for wins. We are going to see this hunger continue to push them on Friday night against Denton Braswell. Fans can expect an offensive fight from both teams, but ultimately, Denton Guyer will finish victorious.

Plano West (2-3) vs. Plano East (1-4)

Plano West Wolves vs. Plano East Panthers -- Friday, October 8 at 7 p.m.

Plano West Wolves

Plano West can be expected to do everything they can on Friday night to put an end to a three-game losing streak. With a strong start to the season, the Wolves are wanting to get back to their strength and show that they belong playing amongst some of the best high school football teams in the area.

The test for Plano West will be in their defense. If they can hold a match to a strong squad like Plano East, the Plano West Wolves just might stand a chance.

Plano East Panthers

The Panthers are headed into the game on a two-game losing streak. Plano East wants the win almost as bad as Plano West. The difference in Plano East's squad, however, is running back Ismail Mahdi who has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season.

Plano East has a strong defense that nearly put a stop to undefeated Lewisville last week. Between the defense and Mahdi, the Panthers just might break their losing streak.

What To Expect:

Plano East will come out on top in this game. Their defense is going to be too strong for Plano West's offense.

Highland Park (4-1) vs. Longview (5-1)

Highland Park Scots vs. Longview Lobos -- Friday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Highland Park Scots

The Highland Park Scots lost their season-opening game to a strong Southlake Carroll team. Every moment since their opening loss, though, Highland Park has been setting the tempo in all of their games- even in really close ones like their win earlier this season over a tough Rockwall squad. Highland Park has been back to their usual strength with wins over the likes of Flower Mound, Coppell, Rockwall, and a district-opening win over Sherman.

Leading the charge for the Scots is junior quarterback Brenan Storer. Storer has thrown 11 touchdown passes for 904 passing yards. Senior running back has also been a strong force for Highland Park as he has posted five touchdowns on 347 rushing yards. Another player to watch for the Scots is senior wide receiver John Rutledge who has accounted for four touchdown catches and 229 receiving yards.

Longview Lobos

Longview has been playing tough this season. In doing so, they are showing just why East Texas needs to be brought back into the picture when it comes to strong teams in Texas High School football. With a 5-1 overall record, the Lobos are undefeated in district play (2-0). Their only loss came week one against UIL State Champions Denton Ryan. Since then, the Lobos have posted convincing wins over Marshall, Tyler Legacy, Bryans, West Mesquite, and Wylie East.

The Lobos are coming into the week on a big, shut-out win over Wylie East (56-0). A win like that is enough to give Longview enough fire to play strong against a usually dominant Highland Park team.

What To Expect

Though on paper the win belongs to Highland Park, it's not going to be a cakewalk for the Scots. Longview is going to put up a battle and flex every muscle that they have against Highland Park. However, the Scots' defense is a powerful one that will likely put a stop to Longview's offensive game on Friday night.
