VYPE U: Lamar Consolidated gets back on track with win over Montgomery

Lamar Consolidated High School football came out on top Friday night, ending their two-game losing streak with a much needed 55-14 win against Montgomery.

Baylor commit Taye McWilliams, who finished with 121 yards and three scores on 11 carries, scored the first touchdown of the night for Lamar Consolidated with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Montgomery remained scoreless throughout the entire first half and trailed Lamar Consolidated 28-0 at halftime.

Lamar Consolidated quarterback Byron Harris finished 9 of 15 for 145 yards and a touchdown.

After the break, Montgomery scored one touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. They were unsuccessful in their comeback attempts in the end. Montgomery now stands at 1-4 in district play.

Montgomery will seek a key win next week against Paetow while Lamar Consolidated hopes to clinch a playoff spot with a win over Cleveland at their homecoming game.
