In a back-and-forth battle for their district opener, the Rockport-Fulton Pirates secured their first victory of the season-- a 36-28 win over Pleasanton. Scoring for the Pirates in their victory over Pleasanton was Sean Howell with three touchdowns and Trevor Garcia with two touchdowns. Howell recorded 146 passing yards on 20 attempts with 96 rushing yards on 18 carries. Garcia recorded 73 rushing yards. Leading on receiving in the victory was Dawson Phillips with 55 yards on three receptions.
The team is looking toward a tough home game against the Beeville Trojans (5-1, 1-0) on Friday night. Beeville's only loss has come against a state-ranked no. 4 Cuero team two weeks ago. As the Pirates gear up, fans can expect this crew to put up a battle. Looking to add more victories to their record in district play, Rockport-Fulton will refuse to go down without a fight as they host Beeville. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
