REGIONAL FINALS: Stephenville set for Canyon

As Stephenville continues to put themselves on the map with their athletic programs, the Yellowjackets Baseball team is the next to make a deep playoff push. Putting forth incredible effort this season, Stephenville is one series victory away from punching their ticket to the state tournament; Canyon is the only team standing in their way. VYPE DFW takes a look at the program so far:

So Far

Jayden Ferguson, Tyler Hicks, Jadis Clemmer, Kutter Stone, Mason Haynes, Gabe Elms, Haiden Rufloff, Mason Weyers, and other talented athletes have been keys to the success of the Yellowjackets program this season. With a strong start in non-district play, the team downed Midland Christian, Snyder, Gatesville, George West, Iowa Park, West, and more; helping to prepare their talents for their district schedule.

With a 7-5 district record and a second-place finish in their district standings, the Yellowjackets channeled resiliency as they overcame challenges to defeat the likes of Glen Rose, Mineral Wells, Graham, Wichita Falls, and more. Securing their spot in the playoffs helped the team realize that they had an opportunity to continue toward their season's goals, go above and beyond, and achieve great things in the postseason.

Without hesitation, the team took on Big Spring (11-0, 4-2), Burkburnett (3-2, 4-1), Krum (12-0, 3-1), and Seminole (5-1, 4-3) in the playoffs where powerful performances have guided them to success. Showcasing dominance over other incredible programs in the state this season has helped power the Yellowjackets into the regional finals.

What to Expect

Canyon is a tough squad boasting a 27-7-1 (10-4) record this season, but Stephenville has been able to shut down their tough opponents in postseason play without struggle. Fans can expect this team to fight hard and make timely hits in order to try to get ahead early in the regional final series against Canyon.
