No. 1 A SUPER-DISTRICT: Class 5A DII District 8 is a top-heavy conference with State Champion Port Neches-Groves moving further west with Huntsville and Lake Creek. PNG knocked off Lake Creek in the Regional Semis, 30-27, and Huntsville, 24-14, in the Regional Finals on the way to State. Now, all three are in the same district.

No. 2 PASADENA ISD IN A PINCH: Pasadena ISD leaves La Porte, Channelview and Deer Park, and joins the likes of the Alvin and Pearland ISDs. Uggghhh. That’s a tough slate with Pearland, Dawson, Shadow Creek and Manvel now all in District 22-6A.

No. 3 TWEAKS: District 13 and 14-6A stand pat. Magnolia and Mag West join Klein ISD and Tomball ISD in District 15-6A. That will be a very balanced district. Cy Falls moves out of District 16-6A to make room for Waller. Cy Falls moves to District 17-6A with Spring Branch ISD and the rest of Cy-Fair ISD as Northbrook moves to Class 5A. Westbury moves down and out of District 18-6A (HISD) and Wisdom moves up to the conference. The Katy ISD (19-6A) remains the same. So does the Fort Bend ISD (21-6A). Goose Creek Memorial and Channelview are now with CE King, North Shore and Humble ISD in District 23-6A. They must be thrilled. Deer Park moves into District 24-6A with Dickinson, Clear Creek ISD and Brazoswood.

No. 4 UP FOR GRABS: With Fulshear and Foster moving to Class 6A, that made for a creation of interesting district. They will join Alief ISD, Strake Jesuit and ISD-mate George Ranch. Can the upstart Fulshear Chargers dominated this district in all sports?

No. 5 SNEAKY GOOD: Class 5A DII District 9 just got interesting. Super-power FB Marshall will try its hand against talented, upstart Iowa Colony (move up from Class 4A) and Randle High. Both teams are young and will challenge the Buffs for the district title. Don’t sleep on Texas City, either.
