VYPE DFW Game of the Week: Boswell v. Frenship GBB (UIL-6A-Region I-D2 Final)
The UIL girls basketball postseason has reached a critical juncture, with the path to the State Tournament on the line.
One of the most anticipated matchups takes place in the Region I-6A-DII Finals, where the Boswell Pioneers will face the Frenship Tigers for a spot in the State Semifinals.
Under the guidance of Coach John Reese, Boswell (36-2) has been a dominant force throughout the season, earning the No. 1 ranking in Texas.
The Pioneers boast an array of talent, led by three standout players: Miami-commit Camille Williams (17 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg, 3 spg), Arkansas Fort Smith-commit Haleigh Jackson (14 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg), and Sydney Durrah (13 ppg).
However, it’s not just the big three that make Boswell a dangerous opponent. Seleste Massey (12 ppg, 4 rpg, 2 apg) and Salena Carrasco (8 ppg, 3 rpg, 3 apg) have also played key roles in the team’s success, rounding out a well-balanced roster.
The Pioneers have displayed their dominance in the playoffs with impressive victories over Southlake Carroll (57-26), Eastwood (74-41), and most recently Braswell (52-44).
On the other side, Frenship (31-6) enters the Regional Finals riding high after an undefeated district championship and a strong playoff run.
The Tigers have secured wins over Montwood (46-19), Mansfield Legacy (54-53), and Denton Guyer (71-46), and are determined to keep their Cinderella story alive.
Under Coach Trent Hilliard, Frenship has already exceeded last season’s performance and aims to continue their success in this high-stakes matchup. They will rely on their senior leaders, Addyson Middleton and Kedan Burch, to step up against the powerhouse Boswell squad.
For a chance to advance to the State Semifinals, the Pioneers will face the Tigers this Friday at 6:00 PM at Sweetwater High School.
