Nothing has been super flashy, just consistent.
"I guess it would be our win over Westbury Christian," he laughs. "We were down 10 points at the half at their place and came back to win. It hasn't been really pretty, but we keep winning, so…"
The Eagles are young and scrappy. There are no seniors who returned from their second-place district finish from a year ago.
"We are young. Like, I have two freshman who play, a lot," he said. "I don't have a lot of leadership and that makes it tough. Some of the girls ask to be the captain, but that's more than meeting the referee at half court before the game. I need someone to step up to be a true leader. I ask, what are you going to do differently?"
He does like his team's effort, however.
"Overall, our success has been due to our defense," he said. "We are better than I expected. We have gotten some really big stops and our help-defense has been excellent."
The main scorers have been Nyah White and Trinity Frias (Heights-transfer), who combine for 21 points per game.
"Trinity has moved to the point guard spot, which is a little out of position for her," he said. "Our post players have done a great job rebounding the ball. Back to our defense, we've gone full-court man to speed up the pace of our opponents."
After the holidays, the Eagles will face the teeth of their district schedule.
"We have Second Baptist and Lutheran South right after the break," he said. "Those are two true tests and we will see where we will stand from a district stand-point after that week."
