We're inside of 50 days before the start of the 2019 high school football season. Last year led to some pretty exhilarating moments and wonderful, underdog storylines.
And just like the professional and college ranks, success - and failure - breeds the constant revolving door for Texas high school head coaches.
So we're going to look at who's new at which school per classification.
Tracking 6A
The 6A classification is littered with top tier teams in the Metroplex. From Allen and Duncanville to Southlake Carroll and Cedar Hill, the competition just to win district titles is fierce.
Through the offseason, eight schools in 6A have made head coaching changes, whether through retirements or resignations.
1.DeSoto
2018 Record: 9-3
Old Coach: Mike Robinson
New Coach: Claude Mathis
An old face returns to the DeSoto sidelines as Claude Mathis replaced Mike Robinson, who is moving to assistant athletic director. Mathis comes back to DeSoto after four years - two years as an assistant at SMU and two years as head coach of Marshall. Mathis was 74-18 from 2008-14 during his first stint with DeSoto.
