The Second Baptist School swim teams hit the road last week to Walker Natatorium to compete at the 2020 TAPPS State Swim Meet.
The men's team was going to be a major contender this season, considering there was only one swimmer lost off last year's fourth place team.
Eight swimmers – Ryan Calderon, Tanner Chapman, Spencer Locascio, Grant Mueller, Evan Steelman, Michael Towne, Jefferson Trammell, Brandon Young – were sent to the state meet this past weekend to compete.
In the end, the guys were able to rack up 208.5 points for a third place finish behind Tyler Grace (217) and Lutheran South (223). This marks the 11th straight year – and 12th of the last 16 – that Second Baptist School men's swim finished in the Top 4.
"There were five teams going into state about 20 points apart and we were one of them," Second Baptist School Coach Mark Hahn said. "I'm really happy for them. We went in seeded fourth and we came out third. They really swam great."Men's swimming 3rd Place!!! pic.twitter.com/BzKNheFgQP
