Check out the highlights from the game below!
FIRST IMPRESSION: 2023 State Finalist, No. 4 Fulshear primed to make their 6A debut
NO. 4 -- FULSHEAR CHARGERS
Head Coach: Sydney Zimmerman
2023: 40-5/UIL-5A State Semifinalists
IN JUST EIGHT SEASONS OF PLAYING VARSITY VOLLEYBALL AT FULSHEAR HIGH SCHOOL, THE CHARGERS HAVE NOW BEEN TO THE UIL STATE TOURNAMENT THREE TIMES, ALSO HAVING WON IT ALL IN 2019 WITHIN CLASS 4A.
Last season, the Chargers were back in the dance at the 5A State Tourney, after winning 40 matches to get there. Now, they make their Class 6A debut, looking to get back and winning it all in 2024 with seven starters returning.
All-State recipients Sydney Black (603 digs, 95 assists - Colorado State commit) and Bailey Warren (571 kills, 35 blocks, 295 digs - Wake Forest commit) look to lead the squad once again, with Warren, in particular, being named the District 20-5A MVP a year ago.
The District Offensive Player of the Year Lauren Witte (416 kills, 18 blocks - Dallas Baptist commit) and District Setter of the Year Alexys James (1,175 assists, 129 kills and 30 blocks - Howard University commit) also return to the huddle.
First-teamers Avery Pruitt (221 kills - Sam Houston State commit) and Yosola Adeleke (171 kills, 99 blocks - Ohio University commit) will be other players of note. Also watch for Southwestern-commit Carly Caraway and defensive specialist Kyanna Lopez.
This team is loaded with talent for ninth-year coach Sydney Zimmerman (287 career coaching wins). Keys to success include experience and leadership (all starters returning), strong outside hitters, a fast offense and a strong passing/defensive game.
