Championship Weekend: SPC Titles coming through Houston
Over the next few days, the SPC Championships will be held in Houston for all Fall Sports and we've got some huge games on hand. Check out the schedule below and which matchups will be the headliners.
FOOTBALL
Where: Sheldon ISD Stadium
When: Saturday
Matchups:
3A - 2:00 PM, John Cooper (8-1) vs Trinity Valley (6-4). The John Cooper Dragons are the defending 3A SPC champs and have been on a winning streak ever since losing their first game of the season in non-district game against TWCA. Offensively for the Dragons, QB Vaughn Mckeever and sophomore RB Dean Calhoun have been fantastic and LB Alex Rovirosa and LB Carson Berger are the leaders on defense. John Cooper plays a familiar foe in Trinity Valley, who they beat in the last game of the regular season 50-34. The Dragons will be the favorites in this one and will look to go back-to-back.
...
4A - 7:00 PM, Episcopal (7-2) vs Kinkaid (6-4). This is a big-time matchup between two Houston teams and big rivals, which should make of a highly-charged Championship. Episcopal has been great on offense with junior transfer QB Karson Gordon at the helm. Kinkaid, who is the defending SPC Champ, is led by Notre Dame-commit Micah Bell. Bell does it all for the Falcons on offense and defense. The two met in the final game of the regular season in which the Knights beat the Falcons 21-15.
