Big Tuesday Recap (w/photo gallery, highlights): Area teams punch tickets to Regional Tourneys with big wins, highlight dunks
Lines down sidewalks, packed gyms to standing room only capacity, celebrity appearances and high-level college coaches in attendance.
That was the scene for another night of high school boys basketball playoffs in Houston on Tuesday. VYPE had wall-to-wall coverage across the city. Here's the VYPE roundup.
Dickinson powers past Atascocita
Dickinson has been on a historic run this postseason after finally breaking through the Area Round.
The Gators, led by University of Houston-signee Tramon Mark, Deuce Guidry and Marcus Williams used a 15-0 run out of the half to expand a once three-point halftime lead over Atascocita to take a 54-42 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Dickinson carried the momentum for an eventual 75-49 victory. Mark finished with 27 points and Williams had 21. Atascocita's Dylan Dawson had 25 points in his final high school game.
"Unbelievable, it's no surprise to me because this is a senior-heavy group led by those three guys - Tramon Mark, Marcus Williams and Deuce Guidry," Dickinson coach Jason Wilson said. "It's no surprise to us being where we are. The job is not finished by all means but we just want to make sure that we continue to maximize this year."
Dickinson will face Morton Ranch in the Region III-6A Semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Berry Center.

Fort Bend Hightower rolls past Crosby
Bryce Griggs had a point to make.
Leading up to Tuesday's game there was a lot of chatter about the battle between him and fellow sophomore at Crosby PJ Haggerty.
Griggs came out wanting to make a statement. He did. Time and time again, Griggs made his way to the basket and ended up scoring 20 of the opening 28 points for Fort Bend Hightower.

At one point, Hightower led 19-2 and expanded the lead to 47-27 at the half. Crosby did cut the lead down to 11 at one point but that was as close as they would get. Hightower went on to win 86-71 to advance to its second-straight Regional Tournament. -

"It feels good, that was one of our goals was to get back there but not just get there but to be the Regional Champions," FB Hightower coach Stephen Woods said. "I keep telling my team it's one game at a time. That's how we're preparing. I have eight seniors on the team and after every practice I tell them this could be your last practice. Before the game we have a pregame meal and I tell them let's hope this is not the last supper.
"If they keep that energy and stick to the gameplan we'll be fine."
