2021 VYPE Awards: Private School Men's Soccer Player of the Year Finalists
It is awards season here at VYPE!
We welcome you to the Countdown to the 2021 VYPE Awards presented by Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Over the next two weeks, we will be unveiling the finalists for the player of the year awards. Team and Coach of the Year awards will be announced LIVE during the Fourth Annual VYPE Awards.
The winners will be honored in a one-hour virtual show on Sunday, June 27 at 6 p.m. on VYPE Houston's website, Twitter account and on the VYPE Texas Facebook page and YouTube Channel! It will be an event to get dressed up for and to tune in to as it will be an evening full of special moments!
Let us get it started! Here are the finalists for Private School Men's Soccer Player of the Year!
PLAYER OF THE YEAR FINALIST: Pablo Tager, St. Thomas
Pablo Tager has a unique story. He scored 21 goals and was selected to the all-state team for the third consecutive year. Great, right? Well, he also parlayed his foot into a football spot at the University of San Diego as a kicker -- a position he was just thrust into a few seasons ago.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR FINALIST: Elijah Garrabrant, Lutheran South Academy
Lutheran South Academy's Eli Garrabrant won't be soon forgotten for his accomplishments on the pitch.
He leaves with three district championships, three trips to the TAPPS Final Four and the 2018 TAPPS Division II State Championship. The Pioneers reached the TAPPS Divison II State Semifinals but fell short to TMI-Episcopal, 3-1, bringing an end to their season.
Leading the way was all-state selection Elijah Garrabrant.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR FINALIST: Carlo Cardenas, Concordia Lutheran
The Concordia Lutheran Crusaders reached the Area Round after beating St. John XXIII in bi-district.
The headliner was senior Carlos Cardenas, who as an all-state midfielder. He was also a first-team, all-district selection.

VYPE to LIVE Broadcast Ninth Annual TD Club of Houston Hildebrand Foundation Private School Awards
HOUSTON - The Ninth Annual Touchdown Club of Houston Hildebrand Foundation Private School Awards are set to take place at the Omni Hotel in the Galleria on Wednesday night.
For family and friends that cannot attend this year's event due to restrictions, VYPE has partnered with the Touchdown Club of Houston to broadcast the evening LIVE on VYPE.com and the TD Club of Houston Facebook page.
"We are proud to partner with the Touchdown Club of Houston on their 9th Annual Private School Football Awards, as they recognize the incredible accomplishments of Private School football players across this great city," VYPE Media CEO Shane Hildreth said.
Finalists for the TD Club of Houston's Coach of the Year, Specialist, Ironman, Lineman, Defensive and Offensive Players of the Year will be honored with the winners being announced at the end of the night.
VYPE will carry the entire two-hour event LIVE on multiple platforms for easy viewing. The finalists are listed below.
