UIL State Semifinals: DFW Girls 4A soccer

As the UIL State Tournament kicks off, plenty of teams are fighting for their chance to hoist the championship trophy at the end of the weekend. As the UIL Class 4A girls gear up to play their respective state semifinal matchups, VYPE DFW takes a look at the two DFW-area teams that have made a name for themselves this season and are still in the running toward the championship!


Celina Lady Bobcats (27-0, 10-0)


Wednesday, April 12 at 11 a.m.

Celina is on the hunt for another trophy. With the grit to claim a second-consecutive state title, the Lady Bobcats have fought with major tenacity all season allowing no losses and no draws. In fact, the Lady Bobcats have allowed only a combined nine goals against them all season while scoring 198 of their own.

Shutting out 19 out of 27 teams, the Lady Bobcats have had a season that won't soon be forgotten. Defeating the likes of McKinney, North Forney, Longview, and more during preseason play, the Lady Bobcats took their dominance into their district schedule. Through district, Celina posted victory after victory finishing strong against Gainesville, Anna, Farmersville, and more to finish out regular season play.

So far in the playoffs, the Lady Bobcats have ended the seasons of Nevada Community (8-0), Dallas Pinkston (7-0), Mabank (4-1), Jacksonville (5-0), and district rival Anna (6-1). Led by Lexi Tuite, Brielle Buchanan, Madi Vana, Grace Pritchard, Mia Norman, Emme Norman, and more, Celina can be expected to come into the state tournament more than ready to finish with another victory.

As the team prepares to face off against Boerne, fans can expect to see nothing less than what they've seen all season. This squad knows how to play hard from start to finish and is determined to wrap up another title season.

Stephenville Honeybees (24-0-1, 12-0)

Wednesday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m.

Stephenville has been on the rise in athletics lately. The Honeybees soccer program is definitely not falling short on setting the standard in Stephenville. This season, the team has allowed a combined nine goals while scoring a combined 94 goals against their opponents.

With only one draw early in preseason play, the team has otherwise remained undefeated posting victories over Temple Lake Belton, Midland Legacy, Gatesville, Lampasas, Brownwood, Salado, China Spring, and more. Through the playoffs, the Honeybees have ended the seasons of Ferris (4-0), Bridgeport (4-0), Life Waxahachie (3-0), San Elizario (4-1), and district rival Salado (2-1 in double overtime play).

As Stephenville prepares to take on Lumberton, fans can expect top-tier playing. The Honeybees have proven to be physical both on offense and defense and can be expected to put up a fight on Wednesday afternoon as they look to punch their ticket to the state finals.
