NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Katy move-in ready to make impact

The rich just got richer.

Freshman athlete Myson Johnson-Cook has moved in from Decatur MacArthur in Illinois to Katy High School this Spring.

The move to Katy sent shockwaves across the state as the powerhouse program added one of the top 2027 prospects in the country, but for Cook it was just a fresh start.

“The reasoning behind the move was for a better environment and for more opportunities in life and football,” Cook said. “I feel like I’ve adjusted to the offseason pretty well. At first, it was a little shaky but overtime I’ve gotten used to what Katy expects.”

Katy has been a brand of Texas high school football for decades with several college prospects coming out of the Tigers' program. Cook looks to be the next great Tiger player and the Coaching staff is excited to have him.

“All of the coaching staff told me that I will make a huge impact on the Katy football program on day one, ” he said.

As far as his recruitment is going, the rising sophomore already holds 11 offers from the likes of Georgia, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and Tennessee among others.

“The recruiting process has been the time of my life,” he said. “I have always dreamed of getting DI offers. Being able to experience my first offer my 8th grade summer was a blessing.”

Cook has college coaches chomping at the bit to get a jump on his recruitment after clocking a 4.44 40 yard dash at the All-22 Elite 11 event a few weeks ago, but for now Cook is focused on his first year of Texas high school football.

“My goal for this fall is to prove to everybody that I can compete in 6A Texas high school football and not just Illinois 5A football,” he said.

Look out for the talented Cook making an immediate impact on both sides of the ball for the Tigers next fall.
