Last season, the Southlake Carroll Lady Dragons volleyball team posted a 4th place finish in their district standings with a playoff appearance that ended in a 3-2 loss against Keller. This season, sharpened and poised, the Lady Dragons are on a mission to be better than ever and their hard work is paying off. As the team inches closer to the playoffs, VYPE DFW takes a look at their successful season so far:
So Far
Opposite from last season, the Lady Dragons opened their schedule with a winning streak over the likes of Colleyville Heritage, Arlington Martin, and Wylie. Through non-district play, the team secured several prominent victories taking down Frisco Wakeland, Grapevine, Highland Park, Flower Mound, Fort Worth Boswell, and more. With a 15-12 overall record heading into district play, the Lady Dragons became focused and ready to put on a campaign against their opponents en route to the playoffs.
Through district play, Layla Austin, Kinsley Young, Taylor Starr, Taryn Barnes, Blue Anderson, Abbey Pace, Mary Beth Morse, and others have dominated the court against Southlake Carroll's opponents. The team has been an unstoppable force as they've faced off against Bryon Nelson, Keller, Timber Creek, Keller Central, and others while allowing only five sets to be won against them.
Leading district play with a 9-0 district record, the Southlake Carroll Lady Dragons sit at the top of their district standings-- ahead of Byron Nelson (6-2) and Keller (5-3).
What's Ahead
The team looks toward a second game against Keller Central on Friday, October 13. In their first meeting this season, Southlake Carroll defeated Keller Central by a 3-0 sweep in sets. Following Friday's home game, Southlake Carroll will hit the road where they travel to face V.R. Eaton and Keller Fossil Ridge to close out district play.
Poised and ready to finish out their regular season on high notes, fans can expect great things from this squad. Be sure you catch this team in action this season as they continue putting on a show for their fans on the court.
