On Thursday, November 12 at the Woodforest Bank Stadium, the Woodlands and Grand Oaks went head to head for the district title. The Highlanders came out on top, 52-17, to continue their undefeated streak in district play. VYPE U was there to cover the game, and shoot some photos. Check them out!
Halfway through the first quarter, The Woodlands senior WR Jack Calhoun turned a quick pass from Senior QB Conner Dechiro into a 22 yard touchdown run. The Grizzlies opened the second half with a 71 yard touchdown by RB Micah Cooper putting some points on the scoreboard. Senior RB Lane O'Brien got the next touchdown for the Highlanders with a ten yard run on a toss from Dechiro. Junior WR Ben Ferguson scored the third touchdown with 12-yard pass in the corner of the end zone from by Dechiro. Junior Jobarre Reed delivered the last Woodlands touchdown before half time; with a six yard carry for a score. The Highlanders went into the locker room leading 28-7.
The Grizzlies scored a touchdown followed by a Highlander field goal kicked by Trey Harrison and another touchdown from Jack Calhoun; putting The Woodlands up 38-14 in the third quarter. With a significant lead, the Highlanders put in newcomer Freshman QB Mabrey Mettauer, who threw a 53 yard touchdown pass to senior Cade Moore. Mettauer continued his long distance throws with a 47 yard pass to Moore leading to a 13 yard touchdown by Mettauer. The Grizzlies closed out the fourth quarter with a field goal.
The Highlanders are now 3-0 in district 13-6A and will host Conroe Saturday November 21 at 2 PM at The Woodforest Bank Stadium.
