Senior quarterback Cruz Tello threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as the Bowie Bulldogs held off the Converse Judson Rockets 28-24 Friday night (9/20) in the VYPE Central Texas High School Football Game of the Week on 102.7 FM ESPN Austin radio.

The Dawgs led all the way, jumping out to a 21-10 lead at the half. After a scoreless third quarter, however, the Rockets outscored Bowie 14-7 in the final frame to make it close but the Bulldogs held on for the win.

Tello went 10-16 for 171 yards and tacked on 41 more on the ground to pace the Bowie attack while senior running back Kayson Mathabela (15-87, 5.8 YPC, TD) also had a nice night.

Bowie (4-0) will take their undefeated record into a huge match-up with fellow unbeaten foe Lake Travis Friday (9/27) at Burger Stadium to open District 26-6A play.
