For the first time this season, there is a new #1 team in the state of Louisiana. After an overtime thriller, the Rummel Raiders took down the previously #1 John Curtis Patriots. The gritty Raiders continue to find ways to close out games strong. Down 14-0 to start, Rummel came back and held on, 21-20, with a game saving defensive stand on Curtis' last second two-point conversion attempt.
Elsewhere around the state, St. Thomas More got back on track defeating Carencro. The STM Cougars definitely look like the team to beat in the upcoming Division II playoffs. Also making a run in the Division II playoffs will be the Neville Tigers. They moved to 6-2 after a win over a good Bastrop team.
Week 10 will bring another impressive slate of district matchups as teams prepare for a playoff push. John Curtis looks back to get back on track against Brother Martin. Catholic (BR) will also play a district deciding matchup against one loss Dutchtown. Ruston vs. West Monroe and Westgate vs. Carencro will also be great games to follow in this final week of the LHSAA regular season.
