McKinney Boyd (5-1, 1-1) vs. Little Elm (5-2, 1-2) McKinney Boyd vs. Little Elm - Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
McKinney Boyd Broncos McKinney Boyd has had a story-book school-record setting start to the season. Despite a loss to Allen, the Broncos have been posting strong wins against their opponents this season. Quarterback Ryan Shackleton has proven to be a strong force for the Broncos tallying 14 passing touchdowns on 1,283 passing yards while also scoring two rushing touchdowns. Carter Whitefield has scored four rushing touchdowns on 484 rushing yards.
Little Elm Lobos Little Elm is coming off of back-to-back losses after a 5-0 start to their season. To say they want this win is an understatement. Not only do they want to show that they can compete in their district, but a big win over a strong team like McKinney Boyd would make a statement for the Lobos. Quarterback John Mateer has been strong in the pocket for Little Elm. Not only has he thrown for 20 touchdowns with over 1,610 passing yards with a 65% pass completion rating, but he has eight rushing touchdowns to his name. Teammate Jalen Sessions has nine rushing touchdowns to his name.
What To Expect A strong game, full stop. From both teams. The main thing you're going to want to watch here is McKinney Boyd, though. You are going to want to see if the Broncos used their BYE week to their advantage... or if they didn't. Two main points are 1. Is Boyd's defense strong enough to put a stop to Mateer and company? 2. Is Boyd's offense ready to break through the crack that has appeared in Little Elm's defense? On the other hand, though, if you're a Little Elm fan, you're going to want to see how the team has used the time between last week and this week to regroup, rebuild, and repair any issues for the team.
▲ Allen (5-1, 2-0) vs. Denton Guyer (7-0, 3-0) Neena Sidhu (VYPEU - VYPE Media)
Allen vs. Denton Guyer - Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
Allen Eagles Allen is coming into the game with their only loss coming against Humble Atascocita... a game that ended their long home-game win-streak in Eagle Stadium. However, since the loss, Allen has spent every moment proving that they are still as dominant as ever with strong wins each week. Jaylen Jenkins has been a strong force all season for the Eagles as he ranks 10th in rushing yards in 6A football. Jenkins has scored 14 rushing touchdowns this season on only 82 carries.
Denton Guyer Wildcats Guyer has allowed only 16 points per game this season and they have proven that they are a force like no other in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this year. Quarterback Jackson Arnold has led the team with a lot of leg work. Arnold has thrown for 14 touchdowns and over 1,660 passing yards while completing 64% of his passes. On the run, Arnold has also scored four rushing touchdowns on 75 carries. Another strong player for Guyer that you're going to want to keep your eyes on is Byron Philips who has scored eight rushing touchdowns on 298 yards and 77 carries.
What To Expect: This game will likely decide who wins the district; because of that it's going to be a hard-fought one. Allen is a strong team and we are not going to see them stop being a strong team, plain and simple. However, where Allen's loss comes from Atascocita, Guyer handily defeated the same Atascocita team. Guyer has a lot to say this season and they aren't going to tone it down for a team like Allen. We will see a strong game, there is no doubt about that, but it's going to come down to whether or not Allen's defense will rise to the challenge of a strong Denton Guyer squad.
▲ Frisco Lone Star (5-1, 4-0) vs. Frisco Wakeland (5-1, 4-1) Wakeland High School Twitter (@WakelandHS)
Frisco Lone Star vs. Frisco Wakeland - Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
Frisco Lone Star Frisco Lone Star is entering Friday's game with an undefeated district record (4-0) over teams like Frisco Heritage, Frisco Independence, Frisco Reedy, and most recently an incredibly strong 72-16 victory over Denton. As usual, senior quarterback Garret Rangel is proving to be tough after an early-season injury. Having played in only four games, Rangel has thrown 11 touchdowns while racking up 971 yards. Also strong for Lone Star, though is senior running back Ashton Jeanty. The Boise State commit has posted 896 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns for the Rangers on 102 carries. The Rangers' offense is locked and loaded this season.
Frisco Wakeland Wakeland has had a strong season. The Wolverine's only loss has come against reigning state champions Denton Ryan. The team is coming off of an impressive 49-0 shutout over Frisco Independence and will be looking to make waves against Lone Star on Friday. The Wolverines have a strong rushing team lead by Jared White who ranks second in rushing in the area's 5A athletes.
What To Expect: The main thing to watch for is how Frisco Wakeland's defense can fare against such a strong, dominating Lone Star offense. It's going to be a tough game on both ends of the football, but the Rangers have proven over and over again that they want to be back on the biggest stage in Texas High School Football and they aren't willing to let anyone put a stop to that run.
▲ Highland Park (5-1, 2-0) vs. McKinney North (4-4, 2-1) Shana Willeford (VYPE Media)
Highland Park vs. McKinney North - Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
Highland Park Scots Highland Park is coming into the game on a hot, five-game win-streak. Quarterback Brennan Storer has been a strong force for the team including in last week's 21-16 win over Longview where he threw two touchdowns with 242 passing yards. Not only are the Scots' offense strong, but their defense is a force to be reckoned with in the state. Usual state championship contenders continue to show their strength this season and will be looking for their sixth-straight win against McKinney North on Friday.
McKinney North Bulldogs McKinney North is no stranger to strong teams this season. They have faced off against strong teams like Justin Northwest, Rockwall-Heath, Wylie East and more. The Bulldogs are coming in on a two-game win streak including last week's close 28-21 win over Wylie East. Even though they have posted strong wins, their defense has seemingly struggled a little bit. The Bulldogs defense will have to be on point against Highland Park.
What To Expect: Highland Park is consistently a great team and that is going to remain so on Friday night. We are not only going to see a strong defense do the most against McKinney North, but we will see the strong Scots offense put up numbers on the night. The McKinney North Bulldogs will have to be at their peak performance to stop the Scots.
▲ Hebron (3-3, 3-0) vs. Coppell (3-3, 2-1) Hebron Football Twitter (@HebronFootball)
Hebron vs. Coppell - Friday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
Hebron Hawks The Hebron Hawks had a less-than-ideal start to their season posting three straight losses. Despite a rocky start, the Hawks have won three games in a row to tie for the lead spot in their district with Lewisville. Undefeated in district play, Hebron has beat the likes of Plano East, Flower Mound, and Plano in which Hawks fans have seen strong outings from Jacob Buniff and Braxton Baker. Buniff didn't play in last week's game, but in the previous two games he threw for seven touchdowns and 764 yards. Cobye Baldwin and Takoda Bridges are strong competitors that Coppell will have to watch out for on Hebron's side. The two have combined for 525 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Coppell Cowboys Coppell has had a strong season and sits just behind Hebron in their district rankings. The Cowboys are coming off of a 39-37 double-overtime loss against Flower Mound Marcus last week and they are looking to repair any damage done to their record. Quarterback Jack Fishpaw has thrown 10 touchdowns on 1,426 passing yards. The Cowboys have strong scorers this season in Ike Odimegwu and Dylan Nelson, so Hebron is going to have to keep their eyes on those strong rushers.
What To Expect: Expect to see a strong matchup. Hebron isn't going to want to lose a strong spot in the district and Coppel wants to harness all the wins they can as they work their way up the ladder. Expect to see the offenses go at it, but the win is going to come with who's defense can put a stop to the other quarterback.
