Lufkin Volleyball
The Panthers have split their last two matches. Lufkin defeated Nacogdoches 3-0 on Friday, September 13, snapping a four-match losing streak. The Panthers were back on the court on Tuesday and fell short in five sets to Pine Tree.
Lufkin sits at 8-15 overall and 1-1 in District 16-5A. Lufkin is slated to play John Tyler on Friday.
Lufkin Football
The Panthers faced off with Redskins del Estado de Mexico last week on the gridiron. Lufkin rolled to the 61-7 victory and improved to 2-1 on the season.
Lufkin was led offensively by Ja'Lynn Polk, who finished with four catches for 101 yards and two scores. All of that came in the first half of the game. Quarterback Jordan Moore finished 9-of-12 for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
The rushing attack was impressive as four different players combined for 19 carries for 216 yards.
Lufkin has this week off before returning to the gridiron next week to host Willis on September 27.
